The Final Graduate!

Standard

Well, I am officially an old fart – my youngest sister graduated from college yesterday.

Husband and I took Friday off to go to commencement and like all college graduations, it took forever, but there were a few highlights.

Dumbledore was walking around, hanging out, keeping the kids in order. I was going to get his autograph afterwards but couldn’t find him.

Baby C graduated with honors! Isn’t she pretty?graduation1

The proud parents! Out of us four daughters – 4/4 went to college, 4/4 graduated college, 4/4 did it in four years, and 4/4 graduated with honors. I think that is pretty impressive, don’t you?!graduation2

I am one proud sister! Can’t wait to see how she changes the world! Love you baby C and a big congrats from hubby and I!graduation3

One Step Closer

Doing the siding happy dance – oh yeah!

It is VERY exciting to pull up the driveway to such a lovely looking house. Well, the front isn’t as lovely as it will be just because it still doesn’t look finished where the brickwork will be, but it is approximately one hundred million times better.

And do you notice the fresh coating of snow in the picture? It snowed all day yesterday and we are supposed to get 7-14 more inches. Hubby had to go plow again this morning. It’s the winter that won’t end! But I kind of like this later season snow, the temps are pretty nice, right around 32 and that kind of snow is much more pleasant than the kind of snow we get at zero degrees with crazy wind.

Oh animated giffs – what fun!

I would also like to take a moment and help all of you lost souls out there who have been wondering – “How can I dress more attractively without showing skin?” And here is my very best answer for you with a little diagram so you can completely understand.

clothes

Starting at the feet
1. weather appropriate footwear. ensure that the color coordinates with the rest of your ensamble for a polished, pulled together look. Tall boots offer versatility – tuck your pants in or leave them out for completely different looks.
2. pants. Something in a nice neutral. Don’t focus on the material, sweatpants can totally pass for dress pants when done in a tasteful black or grey.
3. Bold print top. Something for the eye to focus on. Bonus points if it is DIY splatter tie dye.
4. Cover up for versatility with the weather. Highly recommend a plaid flannel. Does the lumerjack look ever go out of style? NO, it does not.
5. Do your part to be good to the earth and skip the shower – bed head is totally hot right now.

Rock that look like there is no tomorrow and you will be good to go no matter what activity you are doing!

We’ve got a crazy week ahead of us – our next dance class started last weekend and we have 20 couples so it is a HUGE class – hubby is also getting his hernia taken care of on Monday so I will be home with him and my mom and I are going down to the cities for JUNK BONANZA later in the week!!!

Enjoy the weekend peeps!

Winter Wrap-Up

Are you sick of pictures of snow yet?

Well, I came across a couple of images from this winter that I haven’t posted yet but LOVE. Here’s hoping that in the soon future the pictures are of melting snow and budding plants. :)

This first pictures is a contender for my all time favorite from this winter. Hubby took it one morning before we left for work. Doesn’t it look like we live in some remote tundra? I love it! The snow blowing around, fog, the sun struggling to shine through. Mmmmm winter. And I also love it because it really shows the flat colorless kind of depressing (in a nice way) light.

We had another winter with a lot of frost – love it on the pine needles. Winter really is beautiful in it’s own way if you stop to take the time to appreciate it! It is a very silent kind of beauty that is easy to miss.

Well, hopefully that is the last of the winter pictures! Once again, happy spring!

Seamless Steel Siding is in progress!!!

And before I show the pictures, I would just like to make some small talk. Is this what richy people feel like? You leave for work, come home, and presto chango, work is done but it wasn’t you that did it! What a treat! It has been fun for hubby and I to leave for work in the morning and come home at the end of the day to progress. It is much like having a very exciting present waiting for you every single day. I think we could get used to this!

Enough gabbing, here are some pics of the progress!

And Post Script, as a teaser – we aren’t going with any of the stone/brick choices I posted! What will it be?! You’ll have to wait and see!!!

Holy Beautiful Morning!

Standard

Yesterday morning was yet another amazingly beautiful display by mother nature. Hubby took a few pictures and they all take my breath away. The fog and snow and sun all combined in the most amazing way. And the FROST! It wasn’t normal hoar frost, it was like huge ice glitter crystals were covering the trees. It was so sparkly and beautiful. I don’t have the words to make you understand. Even the pictures won’t do it total justice so you’ll just have to trust me when I tell you IT WAS SPECTACULAR.
