Finally! 2 months after our anniversary we got around to taking a few pics.
We were a little goofy this year :)
I’m saving the best for our Christmas cards this year though so you’ll have to wait to see that one!
A very favorite quote of mine – Go into the world and do well. But more importantly, do good. I have big plans for some custom artwork for the entry way at our house, but what I really wanted to share with you was a few pictures from yesterday.
Earlier in the year, quite a few of my wonderful friends and family pitched in to my biking team for Habitat for Humanity. (thank you again from the bottom of my heart, I can still feel the love) The wonderful company that I work for is sponsoring one of the builds this summer so naturally I volunteered to help out! I love what Habitat for Humanity does and what they stand for – it is a very inspiring organization to be a part of and help out with. It is an incredible feeling to give something as small as one day of time and see the huge impact it can have when so many people in the community do the same thing.
Let me throw in a picture now
That is me on the right there – I would like you to take note of the very large amount of sweat I am sporting. Now let me tell you a little about the day. I had some things I had to do at work so I got up EARLY and headed into work. In my car, I take note that it is just before 6 am and it is a balmy 83 degrees out and the radio is talking about how it is 100% humidity. Yuck. Get to the job site and the project of the day is insulation and site clean up. It is now 90 degrees. We have to wait for two different inspectors to come…it is now about 96 degrees and the heat index is well over 100. Work on the insulation, taking frequent water breaks. Sweating oh so much – all of us. What a mess we were. You know its miserable when you walk outside into the mentioned conditions and it feels cool compared to being inside.
We did get everything finished up that we were scheduled to do so that was very rewarding! It was also kind of fun today at work when a few of us ran into each other and all commiserated over how blasted hot it was yesterday! :) And now we are able to laugh at the crew that is going on Thursday – it’s supposed to be hot again but I don’t think as humid.
Have you thought about volunteering and just never done it? JUST DO IT! Wonderful things happen when you volunteer – you’ll meet awesome new people and it is just so rewarding to be a part of great organizations. Find something that interests you and go for it! Don’t be scared!!!
I work at the same company as this group of people and didn’t really know any of them before yesterday (they are all in the accounting department) and after yesterday we are all bonded by our shared experience – it is awesome! I have a bunch of new friends!
This evening I got up close and personal with a BEAUTIFUL dragonfly. I was going around the outside of the house taking care of some weeds and noticed this amazing dragonfly perched on the side of the house behind the propane tank. I (obviously) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take a few pictures and (if I do say so myself!) they turned out so neat!
Here is a full picture of the gorgeous green giant -
Isn’t it AMAZING?! So, of course we took a bunch of pictures from slightly different angles, different camera settings, the works. Here are a few of my favorites.
And the very best, saved for last – click on this one to view it larger. Check out the compound eyes on this beast!
I could upload 20 more – they are all so neat! We are most certainly going to blow some of these up to hang in our house!
